Dumbo flies again as Honda continue Spanish test

Testing continues in Barcelona, and Honda Racing F1 have made some very noticeable changes to the car. Clearly visible are aerodynamic front wheel covers similar to those run by Ferrari and McLaren, but it's the nose that attracted attention as the infamous 'Dumbo ears' that turned up in 2007 made a brief appearance.

A relatively trouble free morning at the sunny and crisp Catalunya circuit, with no interruptions for rain or red flags, saw Barrichello cover 42 laps, setting a best time of 1:21.711, some two seconds behind the pace setter who was, amazingly, Giancarlo Fisichella in his Force India. Behind Fisichella (who was not running slick tyres) were the Ferrari and McLaren cars, followed by everyone else, with the remaining six teams separated by a little over one second.

As I type this, the afternoon session has begun, and Rubens has been forced to return to the pits, smoke coming from the rear of the car in a scene similar to the fire suffered by Alex Wurz in yesterday's session.

Brief times for the day will follow, with an end-of-test roundup of times and events later in the week.
